ATTIRE

-
We are providing the costume and hair piece.
-
The hair pieces and accessories will be provided the day of the performance. You may keep them afterwards.
-
Dancers are to wear the same tights and ballet slippers from class.
-
It is HIGHLY recommended to have an extra pair of tights that day in case the ones your dancer is wearing are dirtied or torn. If you need to purchase, click here.

HAIR AND MAKEUP
-
Hair must be pulled back in a neat ballet bun.
-
No jewelry is allowed except for small earrings.
-
No nail polish is allowed.
-
No glitter is allowed, as per instructions from Pinecrest Gardens. In addition, we don’t recommend it because glitter on the skin can look like sweat from far away with the stage lights.
-
We recommend wearing something over the costume on the way to the location and while waiting to rehearse/perform, such as a robe or a big t-shirt and pants, to protect the costume.

Stage makeup plays an important role in helping dancers look their best under bright stage lights. It’s not about making our young dancers look older or like adults—it’s simply an extension of the costume, ensuring their facial expressions can be clearly seen from the audience. The lighting on stage can wash out natural features, so a little makeup helps highlight eyes, cheeks, and lips so the dancers’ expressions and artistry shine through. It’s not necessary to apply a full face of makeup with foundation, contouring, eyeliner, or highlighting. Some blue eye shadow, pink blush, and red or pink lipstick is perfectly sufficient. While wearing stage makeup is optional, it is highly recommended to help each dancer feel fully prepared and to create a polished, cohesive look for the performance.
BACKSTAGE
Upon arrival at Pinecrest Gardens, you will be led to the Banyan Bowl where you will need to be checked in by one of our staff.
-
Each dancer is allowed only ONE chaperone in the backstage area during the dress rehearsal and performance. (Chaperones must purchase an entrance to the festival.)
-
Since dancers will be backstage for several hours, we recommend taking mats and/or large blankets to sit on the floor and some sort of entertainment while they wait (coloring books, iPads, dolls, etc… nothing that can dirty their tights or costume such as markers).
-
We also recommend having a substantial lunch before arriving, and taking dry snacks that won’t dirty the attire (such as cheese, grapes, crackers, etc.) Water is best over drinks with dyes to prevent staining of the costume.

Note: Food is sold at the festival, but that won’t be available until the festival begins at 6:30pm, and that will be too close to show time to try to purchase food and eat. Please bring your own food to eat before the performance.
